Tbilisi Court Sentences Sukiasyan to 40 Days Extradition detention
A Tbilisi City Court yesterday sentenced Ashot Sukiasyan to ‘extradition detention’.
Armenian authorities now have forty days to present extradition papers to Georgia in order to return Sukiasyan who was arrested at Tbilisi International Airport on Friday after embarking from a flight from Istanbul.
The businessman went into hiding after Hetq broke the Cyprus offshore story and his involvement along with Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan and Archbishop Navasard Kjoyan.
Armenian police issued a search warrant for Sukiasyan last June and charged him with large-scale embezzlement and money laundering.
