Paruyr Hayrikyan to Organize March and Rally on February 18
Union for Self-Determination party leader Paruyr Hayrikyan today sent an open letter to Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan to inform him that he will be organizing a vehicle march, rally, and pedestrian march on February 18, the day in 1921 when the Bolshevik regime was temporarily ousted from Armenia and the country briefly restored its independence.
In the open letter, Hayrikyan details the route of the vehicle march, which will begin at 11 am from the Tsitsernakaberd Armenian Genocide Memorial Complex, where participants will commemorate the memory of Movses Gorgisyan, one of the founders of the Union for Self-Determination. The party leader predicts the participation of 20–50 vehicles.
The vehicle march will be followed by a rally in Liberty Square from 4:00 to 5:30 pm, which, in turn, will be followed by a march on foot in the city center ending around 6:30 to 7:00 pm.
Hayrikyan even predicts the number of rally and march participants to be 5,000 to 10,000 people.
This time last year, Hayrikyan was wounded by a gunshot during the presidential election campaign, for which he was a candidate.
