Armenian National Congress representative Davit Shahnazaryan today spoke with reporters regarding the activities of the March 1st Fact Finding Group. He pointed out to reporters Point 8 of the Directive sent by Chief Prosecutor Aghvan Hovsepyan to the ROA Special Investigation Division where it is stated that,"Regarding the legality of preliminary investigations underway in corresponding directions, immediate supervision and judicial management is authorized to G.R. Tovmasyan, Deputy Director of the Department of Criminal Affairs." Thus, according to Davit Shahnazaryan, the direct management of the preliminary investigation was executed by G. Tovmasyan. Mr. Shahnazaryan pointed out to reporters that on October 20, 2008, G. Tovmasyan was dismissed from his post, according to his petition, and sent into retirement. Later on, the ruling regime nominated him as a member of the Fact Finding Group which was ctreated on October 27th. "I have no doubt that all this was planned in advance. Has anyone ever heard of an instance when a 43 year-old man voluntarily resigns from a top position at the Proesecutor's Office to enter retirement? Such a thing can only happen when they force him to do so or due to an unsatisfactory work record or due to the fact that for so many months he has accumulated a storehouse of facts and now he is fulfilling the order of the regime and will attempt to undermine the work of the Fact Finding Group." concluded the ANC representative.
