At a press conference called today by Arman Melikyan, former foreign minister of the Republic of Mountainous Karabakh (RMK), Mr. Melikyan noted that the Karabakh conflict cannot be resolved via mutual concessions. The conflict will either be resolved via concesions or the parties involved must take a cold, rational look at the existing situation and comes to grips with it and attempt to devise new friendly relations. The former FM commented that certain intermediaries and international organizations are attempting to force an approach of mutal concessions which really only contains concessions.

Mr. Melikyan is of the opinion that a resolution to the conflict is mostly linked to the present political situation and now is the time to change that situation, to make changes to the domestic political arena. "The soldiers completed their mission in the best possible way and it would be great if our politicians and diplomats did the same." he noted.
