Armenia Comes in 8th in 2008 Junior Eurovision Song Contest
Official results from last night's 2008 Eurovision Contest show that Armenia's entry, Monika Manucharova, came in 8th place with a total of 59 points. Monika, born in the Armenian city of Gyumri in1995, performed the song "Im Ergi Hnchyune" (The melody of my song). Georgia came in 1st place with 154 points followed by Ukraine and Lithuania. Fifteen countries participated in this year's Eurovision contest held in the town of Lemesos, Cyprus. Monika presently studys at the Russian specialized language school in Gyumri and attends piano classes at the city's music school. She won 3rd prize at the 2007 "Berliner Perle" song contest. In 2007, Belarus won the Junior Eurovision Contest by a single point over Armenia.
