According to a Central Elections Committee (CEC) spokesperson, the President of the CEC today ordered the arrest of the President and other members of Elections District Comittee 9/31 for vote tampering in the Februaray 2008 presidential elections. The CEC spokesperson stated that, "It has been confirmed that on February 19, 2008, 9/31 Committee President Edward Aghajanyan, Deputy President Alvard Hovhannisyan, Secretary Margarita Ayvazyan and others tampered with vote tallies and signed their names to the modifications made." A criminal case charging vote tampering has been initiated and Mr. Aghajanyan has been placed under arrest.
