Another Delay in Murder Case of Armenian Soldiers in Karabakh
Today, in the Northern Criminal Court, there was another postponment in the "Mataghis" trial that is investigating the murder of military personnel Hovsep Mkrtuumyan and Roman Yeghiazaryan by three military conscripts in the Mataghis army post in the NKR. Once again, the reason for the delay was that Stepan Voskanyan, attorney for the defense, failed to show up at the trial session, having sent a notice to the court that he had a pressing criminal case in Yerevan and would not be able to be present in the Gyumri courtroom.
Presiding Judge Harutyun Movsisyan expressed his ire at the defendants and warned them that, "I forget how many times the trial has been postponed because of your attorney's actions. How many times have I said that while we respect you right to a defense and to counsel, if you cannot insure their presence in couurt we will be fotrced to assign you a public defendant. You know that witnesses have come from various regions of the country. At the last session eight had made the long trip but only three have come today. They are fed up and leaving. Please warn your lawyers not to repeat such actions."
