On November 17th at approximately 8:00 pm, Edik Baghdasaryan, President of the “Investigative Journalists” NGO and Chief Editor of “Hetq” Online, was assaulted by two unknown individuals on Puzant Street in the vicinity of the Vernisage Market is located. While scuffling with his assailants a third individual appeared and threw a rock which hit the journalist on the head, causing considerable injury. The assailants then fled after grabbing an expensive camera that the journalist had been carrying. Witnesses at the scene called for an ambulance which arrived, along with a police officer, to find Baghdasaryan with a bloodied head and his clothes torn away. After administering first aid the emergency workers took the battered journalist to hospital. Mr. Baghdasaryan was somewhat at a loss as to a possible motive for the attack but didn’t rule out the possibility that it could have something to do with his work as an investigative journalist.
