During an interview that Mr. Hovik Arsenyan, the lawyer for the “Group of 7” arrested surrounding the events of March 1st, recently gave to Hetq he stated that former Armenian President Robert Kocharyan needs to be arrested for spreading a false sense of insecurity and contrived evidence that served as the basis for declaring a State of Emergency in Yerevan.Mr. Arsenyan stated, “Just imagine for a moment that the head of state suddenly declares that, ‘how can we permit people to fire on police from behind buses who are resisting unarmed, just with truncheons’.” The lawyer added, “By making such baseless comments Robert Kocharyan has endangered the security of the state and the society. For such a crime he needs to be arrested and criminally prosecuted.”
