Responding to a question posed by the Novosti-Armenia news agency regarding the recent spate of statements that have appeared in the Turkish press allegedly made by Armenian officials vis-à-vis international recognition of the Genocide, Armenia’s Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian stated, “Recent news stories appearing in the Turkish press, credited to Armenian officials, regarding the international effort to obtain recognition of the Armenian Genocide are distorted and turned upside down. I have stated on several occasions and wish to repeat here that officials of Armenia have never spoken out, nor will they ever speak out, in favor of halting efforts aimed at the international recognition of the Genocide. All the more, Armenia cannot tolerate any manifestation of denial regarding the Armenian Genocide.”
