At the end of October, apartments were allocated to military service personnel in Stepanakert, the capital of the NKR, and in the village of Ivanyan. NKR President Bako Sahakyan handed over the keys to the new homeowners amidst much pomp and ceremony. This program started years ago and was the initiative of the NKR Ministry of Defense. Senor Hasratyan, Head of the Ministry’s Press Service, informed us that during the current year 91 apartments were handed over for occupancy; 47 in the village of Mekhakavan, 15 in Shushi, 12 in the village of Ivanyan, 11 in Stepanakert and 6 in the village of Srkhavend. Currently, 16 apartments are undergoing construction in Shushi and 24 in the town of Martakert. This will bring the end of year total of apartments distributed to 131.
