Police Suspected of Vicious Killing of Armenian Citizen in Russia

According to the website of the Russian city of Saradov (sarbc.ru), on October 29th a female resident of the town filed a missing persons report with the local internal affairs department regarding her husband, 30 year-old Armen Gasparyan, a citizen of Armenia. She was told that the disappearance of her husband might be linked to a police matter. It quickly came to light that Mr. Gasparyan had been murdered. Three members of the Saradov Police Department, who hadn’t been able to illicit a confession from Mr. Gasparyan regarding the theft of an amount of gold, are suspected of then having proceeded to viciously beat the man and then dosing him with gasoline and lighting him on fire. Mr. Gasparyan, still alive after the attack, attempted to flee, but was caught by the policemen who beat him on the head, killing him. They later buried the body. The three policemen have made statements confessing to the murder. According to Russian media outlets, the police were intoxicated at the time. Criminal proceedings have been initiated.
