During a Q & A with the "Syunyats Yerkir" newspaper, Sasoun Khachatryan, Executive Director of the "Vorotan Hydro-Electric Company" refuted rumors that the concern was to be either privatized or sold. "Our system of hydro-electric stations has great economic and technical significance for our country. Furthermore, after the completion of the planned for Meghri hydro plant, with the combined resources of Iran and Armenia, that station will also be operated by Vorotan. This is why I don't see the privatization of the Tatev, Shamb and Spandaryan hydro stations in the next ten years as likely," noted Mr. Khachatryan. "Vorotan Hydro's" various stations produce 60% of all the hydro-electrical energy produced in Armenia.
