On December 7th an evening commemorating the 20th anniversay of the Spitak earthquake took place in Los Angeles. The event was jointly organized by the ROA Consulate in Los Angeles and community organizations. After observing one minute of silence for the 1988 earthquake victims, Armenian Consul Armen Liloyan spoke briefly about the devastating socio-economic impact the quake had on the newly created Republic of Armenia. After thanking the United States and the American-Armenian community for the assistance offered to the people of Armenia, Consul Liloyan spoke about the rehabilitation projects that have been completed in the earthquake zone.
