On January 13, a press release issued by the Heritage Party reports that its National Assembly faction head, Armen Martirosyan, accompanied by Deputy Anahit Bakhshyan, paid a visit to the Nubarashen criminal detention facility and met with Armen Khourshoudyan and Gevorg Manoukyan to investigate charges that the two prisoners had been subject to violence on December 23. Presently an official review of the matter is taking place. Mr. Khourshoudyan has stated that violence had been used against him but that he didn't lodge a complaint at the time. Mr. Manoukyan voiced dissatisfaction with various news outlets which had reported that he had disavowed the fact that violence had been used against him. Mr. Manoukyan confirmed that violence had indeed been employed against him but that he would wait for the return of his attorney for consultations before answering any questions by the ongoing investigative body. He stated that his ongoing hunger strike would continue despite suffering from various health ailments.
