On January 19, the first president of the ROA, Levon Ter-Petrosian, met with visiting EU Commissioner for External Relations, Benita Ferrero-Waldner. During the meeting the two discussed possible ways to resolve the present political crisis in Armenia, the issue of freeing political prisoners and developments in the process of democratization and defense of human rights. Also present at the meeting was Levon Zurabyan, head of the Armenian National Congress (HAK) office, Gunnar Vigand, Acting Director of the South Caucasus and Central Asia Department of the European Commission Foreign Relations General Directorate, and Raul de Lutzenberger, Head of the European Commission Delegation in Armenia
