"Shushi Renaissance Foundation" Presents New Project Plans

Yerevan Mayor Yervand Zakharyan, who is also the President of the Board of Trustees of the "Shushi Renaissance Foundation", was recently in Karabakh and met with RMK President Bako Sahakyan. The two discussed issues related to the Foundation's on-going programs in Karabakh. Hetq learnt that earlier RMK Prime Minister Arayk Harutyunyan had expressed his dissatisfaction with several aspects of the work being carried out by the Foundation, particularly regarding the construction of a new water distribution sysytem in Shushi. The government had been obligated to allocate a huge amount from the state budget in 2008 to insure an uninterrupted flow of water during the 2008-2009 winter months. Hetq contacted Artur Hambardzoumyan, who heads the Foundation's Shushi Office, to clarify what was delaying the project's completion. Mr. Hambarddzoumyan noted that the government had repaired the existing pipeleine but that the Foundation will begin to install a completely new system in the spring.
