At a press conference held today at the "Tesaket Club", Liberal Party leader Hovhannes Hovhannisyan commented that modifying Articles 225 and 300 of the Armenian Criminal Code is ridiculous and noted, "On the one hand we are assuming the obligations to make reforms in the legal field while on the other we are changing certain articles, and this falls outside the realm of logic."
He even complained about the presence of armed bailiffs in the courtrooms and also found the practice to be illogical commenting that, "They give these guys hanging out in the streets a uniform and a gun and tell them that they are now bailiffs, servants of the court. Why are they arming these guys? None have undergone psychiatric testing. It's quite dangerous. Are they given gunds to shoot at us?" asked Mr. Hovhannisyan.
In his estimation, the events of March 1st are a political, not a legal problem. "They freed their guys with a general amnesty, but our guys are still in jail," concluded the Liberal Party leader, adding that the public still doesn't know who really organized the events of March 1st.
