Our sources in Gyumri report that gun shots rang out in the center of town around 11:30 p.m. on February 5. It appears that two opposing sides had met to settle scores and that the vocal argument soon escalated into gun fire. We have not yet been able to ascertain who these "cowboys" were and local authorities have remained silent on the incident. When asked by "Hetq's" Gyumri correspondent what was going on in the city, the regional investigative unit responded by saying that they hadn't any knowledge of the incident prior to haring about it from reporters. In any event, armed policemen were seen to be milling about Gyumri's central square last night.
