Charles Aznavour has confirmed that he has accepted the invitation of the government of Armenia to serve as its ambassasor to Switzerland. It had been reported that Mr. Aznavour initially turned down the offer for personal reasons, citing that the post would impinge on his independence. "It is a great personal honor that Armenia has invited me to become its ambassador. At first, I hestitated, thinking that the work involved wouldn't be easy. But a bit later I came around to thinking that, in the end, what ever is important to Armenia should also be of importance to all of us. Thus, I have acccepted the invitation extended to me with relish, joy and finally, a deep sense of honor," Mr. Aznavour commented
