Kiro Manoyan - There are no ARF members in Javakhk

24_02-k_manoyanToday, at a press conference at the "Ourbat Club", "Hetq" tried to get Kiro Manoyan, who heads the Hay Dat and Political Affairs Office, to verify whether the two Armenian social activists recently arrrested in Javakhk, Sargis Hakobyan and Grigor Minasyan, are members of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF). Mr. Manoyan replied, "There are no members of the ARF in Javakhk in general and those two individuals aren't members of the party. For us the question isn't whether they are mebers of the ARF or not. This issue for us is that it is a method of political pressure, to sow an atmosphere of fear, especially within Javakhk, in an attempt to misdirect the direction of the struggle, to remove it from its natural course, in order that it will give them a new pretext and occasion to take other steps in the future." He added, "They took similar steps before the August war. Guys who they found and arrested could have been in Javakhk a few months earlier. Now, when they are faced with a growing opposition, when there are demands for the president to resign, when supporters of the regime are going over to the opposition, the authorities have apparently playing a game to redirect attention.
