Regarding recently circulating rumors that criminal charges have been brought against the former two administrative heads of the Kashatagh region in the NKR for a variety of improprieties during their tenure in office, "Hetq" contacted the Chief Prosecutor’s Office in Stepanakert for clarification. The Press Service of the Prosecutor’s Office responded by reporting that on October 12, 2007, Ernest Ghevondyan, the former head of the Kashatagh Administrative Office, misused his official powers and adopted a decision to sell off a variety of technical resources and commodities registered as assets in the district’s balance sheet. As a result, a special investigatory unit of the NKR’s Prosecutor’s Office has opened a criminal case regarding the matter.
