Heritage Party Will Cooperate with "HAK" in Election Monitoring

During a press conference held today, Hovsep Khourshoudyan, Heritage Party spokesperson commented on the recent decision of the party not to unite with the Armenian National Congress (HAK) and run on a joint ticket in the upcoming May Yerevan mayoral elections. "The Heritage Party has always fought to ensure that the votes of the electorate are not fraudulently manipulated and will continue to do so regardless of what may happen and regardless of any decisions taken," stated Mr. Khourshoudyan. He emphasized the need to coordinate efforts with HAK election monitors and authorized observers in the elections for the municipal council that are expected to be hotly contested. "If we were to notice that HAK had more qualified and experience members to monitor the elections than we did, we would debate the matter," Mr. Khourshoudyan added. The Heritage Party spokesperson noted that he thought the possibility to manipulate the vote by the authorities was rather slim.
