The case of 24 year-old Souren Movsisyan, shot dead on a street in Etchmiadzin on October 12, 2008, has still not been solved. A criminal investigation was initiated but the perpetrator, or perpetrators, still elude the police. One individual, whose name was bandied about as a potential suspect was that Ataman Armen, a bodyguard in the employ of National Assembly Deputy Seyran Saroyan. Ataman was arrested at the time but a "Hetq" source in the investigations service says that his participation in the murder couldn't be substantiated. He had been arrested when police searched his house, finding illegal firearms. His case of weapons possession has been sent to the courts. The murder case against him has been dropped.
