Due to a recount of the March 29 ballots for the mayoral election of the town of Shushi, Karen Avagimyan has been proclaimed mayor with 779 votes. His contender, Albert Khachatryan, who had called for the recount, received 774 votes. Mr. Vachik Zakaryan, President of the Shushi Regional Electoral Commission, states that the final vote count has been verified and that no further protests have been filed.
