Artsakh ARF Official - Armenian Diplomacy Has Registered a Retreat

Davit Ishkhanyan, representative of the ARF Central Committee of Artsakh, commenting in the recently signed joint statement of the foreign ministries of Armenia, Turkey and Switzerland, declared that, "A retreat has been registered in Armenian diplomacy."

Mr. Ishkhanyan voted that developments show that Azerbaijan is totally following the diplomatic road sketched by Turkey. He finds it more than coincidental that Azerbaijan's president didn't travel to Turkey nor its statements of recent days that proclaim its victories. Regarding the April 22 "road map", Mr. Ishkhanyan believes that the one year result of the Turkish side has been to include the issue of the Treaty of Kars into the document. "I don't think that all is lost and that it is still possible to by-pass this. We face serious problems that we must strive to overcome," stated the ARF representative. At the same time Mr. Ishkhanyan noted that developments can lead to new political events in the following days. In this context, he believes that it is vital to form a Karabakh front, in the diplomatic sense of the word. "A Karabakh front, not to divide but to unite all our forces; Karabakh, Armenia and the worldwide Armenian people. And this front can once again play a positive role," added Mr. Ishkhanyan.
