At a press conference held today, political analyst Igor Mouradyan, commenting on the decision of the ARF to pull out of the governing coalition, noted that, "The ARF quite the coalition not because a document was signed in Switzerland. What kind of political party is it that it couldn't understand that its boss signed such and such a document in such and such a place?"
Mr. Mouradyan added that the ARF knew everything quite well. "Here, the issue is a matter of substance. The signing of the various agreements in Moscow and Switzerland ensured the direction of foreign affairs, that the present regime would transform into an actual opposition," he commented, adding that the Ter-Petrosyan opposition thinks along the same lines as the regime and has no alternative.
"If such a union comes about, i.e. between the HAK and the regime, then there will be no place left for the ARF, not only in history but in Armenia. That's why the ARF quit in such a hurry," Mr. Mouradyan noted.
The analyst stated that it was colleagues in the diaspora, who are actually working and engaged in politics that spurred the ARF to take such a move. They threatened to come out with a public statement exposing what the ARF in Armenia was really up to.
