NKR MP Zhanna Galstyan: "All the presidents of Armenia and Artsakh will be held accountable"

At a press conference held after today's session of the NKR National Assembly, Zhanna Galstyan, a deputy of the "Democratic Faction" and President of the National Assembly's Defense, Security and Law Enforcement Committee, stated, "Today, the people feel that our most prominent achievement of the past twenty years, namely the tripartite unity of Armenia, the Diaspora and Artsakh, is under threat."

"Of course, we are concerned with the Artsakh issue, but we have always viewed the Artskah issue as a part of the Armenian Case. And by threatening one of its component parts we are in fact threatening the idea of the Armenian Case and afterwards we'll be talking about national ideology. SAs to how the Artsakh conflict will be eventually resolved, not only is the current president of the Artsakh Republic accountable before the people but indeed all the presidents of the Republic of Armenia, all out presidents of the Supreme Council, as well as you, Georgy Petrosyan, Foreign Minister of the NKR, all former presidents of Artsakh, and all of us sitting here today," stressed Ms. Galstyan. Commenting on the confidentiality regarding the Karabakh negotiations process, Deputy Galstyan noted that it was only the Armenian side to the talks that adhered to this rule and that all the news is culled from the Turkish and Azerbaijani press. She urged Foreign Minister Petrosyan to confer with his colleagues in Armenia and tell them that, "the time for such diplomatic games has long passed". "I believe that all the details of the negotiatoions must not only be provided to the parliamentary deputies but to each and every citizen of Artsakh, to all the parents who lost children, wives who have lost husbands, parentless children, to all those who spent their childhood in our basements and cellars," the deputy added. Ms. Galstyan also revealed that it was possible that the foreign ministers of the NKR and Armenia be invited to the national assembly but added that, "it was possible that the Armenian foreign minister wouldn't show". For this reason she advised Mr. Petrosyan to speak with his counterpart, Edward Nalbandian, "so that the next time he would be able to answer more completely". This way, she concluded, "united, as a nation, we will sit down and decide our next steps".
