Heritage Party Deputy - ARF Has Lost Its Executive Leverage

13_02-a_martirosyan1Armen Martirosyan, who heads the Heritage Party parliamentary faction, stated at a press conference earlier today regarding the ARF's decision to quit the ruling coalition that, "In essence, the ARF's move to pull out of the coalition was solely based on the foreign affairs factor. But now, as an opposition force it must also respond to internal matters as well. We will reserve judgment until we see how the ARF responds to the domestic situation in Armenia." Mr. Martirosyan also noted that up until now the opposition's steps have been measured and serious and the proposals it has made have been principled. The Heritage Party deputy also stated that he believes that ARF deputies Artur Aghabekyan and Armen Rustamyan will continue to chair their parliamentary committees. "Holding on to the foreign affairs committee, they will try to exert their influence on that policy." Mr. Martirosyan added that the ARF had lost much of its executive leverage and that it would not give up these two legislative posts as well. 30_04-arman-sahakyanArman Sahakyan, a Republican Party member, also views the ARF as a traditional party. "I believe that there will be many changes in our political life. Personally, I see it as a positive that ion the opposition there will be a constructive authority and in reality a principles and traditional opposition."
