Arzumanyan's Lawyer Demands Tapes, Wire Taps be Examined for Tampering
At today's trial session of the criminal case involving Alex Arzumanyan and Suren Sirounyan, Mr. Arzumanyan's defense attorney, Liparit Simonyan, motioned the court to conduct a computer analysis to see if the video recordings used as evidence in the case had been tampered with.
Mr. Simonyan also motioned the court to verify whether tapped phone conversations of his client had also been tampered with. Mr. Arzumanyan had expressed some doubts as to the alleged phone conversation he is said to have had with Ararat Zurabyan. The accused has said that the voice on the tape isn't his and that he never had such a conversation with Mr. Zurabyan. Prosecutor Koryun Piloyan raise no objections to having the wire taps sent for expert examination but disagreed with the motion about the laser discs since that had been obtained from various sources and not from authorized bodies. At this point Judge Martirosyan left the court room to evaluate the two motions.
