1st Print Edition of "Hetq" Hits Yerevan Streets

The premiere print edition of "Hetq" hit the streets of Yerevan yesterday. Some 5,000 copies of the paper were distributed by students at various locations throughout the city. The first edition was devoted to the rights of children; those socially vulnerable who live on the street and beg for a living. The paper delved into the issues they face in terms of getting an education and being exploited at work. Other issues covered in the issue dealt with the environment, corruption, legal defense and other topical issues. In the words of "Hetq" Chief Editor Edik Baghdasaryan, "This is a preparatory phase for us. We want to get readers to subscribe to "Hetq". Our future hope really rests with our readers. Over the summer, we'll be getting the word out about the paper to folks and organizations and try to get them to subscribe." The first few issues will be distributed throughout Yerevan, the outlying regions in Armenia and in Artsakh as well. A few issues on a thematic basis will also be published. The paper plans to be published on a weekly basis come September.
