Artsakh War Vets Criticize RoA Government's Javakhk Policy

The "Union of Armenian Volunteers" issued a statement today in support of jailed Javakhk Armenian activist Vahagn Chakhalyan, President of the "United Javakhk Democratice Alliance and criticized the Armenian government for periodically placing personal gain over national interests. The Coalition also pledged its support of of Gurgen Shirinyan, another Javakhk activist who has been sentenced to seventeen years in absentia. The statement labeled the two activists as true Armenian freedom fighters who are struggling to ensure an honorable existence for the Armenians in Javakhk. The statement was also highly critical of the policies of the present Armenian government in defending the rights of Javakhk Armenians and said that it should come as no surprise to anyone as to the depths the Sargsyan regime will sink to kow-tow to Georgian demands and their western backers. The Coalition said that the meeting of the leaders of Armenia and Georgia in Yerevan today is an opportune chance for President Sargsyan to prolong his reign by playing up to Saakashvili and his foreign backers. "RoA law enforcement leaders have also announced that they are in pursuit of Gurgen Shirinyan. No one should harbor any doubts as to the level of moral depravity of the current Armenian regime that would turn over Shirinyan to the Georgians if it found him. We condemn such a position of the RoA government and urge law enforcement not to enforce such a despicable and traitorous directive," the statement read.
