"Peace for Karabakh" - New Book by Vladimir Kazimirov
A book reception was held today in Stepanakert's Armenia Hotel for a new work entitled "Мир Карабаху" (Peace for Karabakh) by former OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair Vladimir Kazimirov.
The book is a collection of memoires by Mr. Kazimirov from his term as Minsk Co-Chair and also contains some little known documents related to the Karabakh conflict. The book, in the words of the author, contains a critique of both sides policies and actions but comes down harder on Azerbaijan. Mr. Kazimirov confessed that he initially harbored concerns that the book wouldn’t be well received by certain individuals on either side of the conflict but then realized that the book must be written based on what he actually witnessed and experienced.
The Russian diplomat stated that both sides must search for mutually acceptable concessions and that the conflict would not be resolved through capitulations from either.
"The military victory of the Armenians in the past cannot ensure a new victory if, God forbid, warfare breaks out again. Thus, new pathways towards a resolution must be found," Mr. Kazimirov declared.
In response to Mr. Kazimirov's statements and sections of the book where the return of the "liberated territories" is touched upon, Valery Ghazaryan, a member of the NKR Supreme Council noted, "The Minsk Group and other organizations should never be under the illusion that the residents of Karabakh will ever go the route of territorial concessions."
The first reception for the book took place in Moscow on June 18. A similar event is planned for Yerevan on June 26.
"That's all for the moment. If Baku were to propose a reception as well, I'd agree," Mr. Kazimirov said.
