RoA police moved in to forcibly remove Javakhk Armenian demonstrators in the vicinity of Republic Square who had gathered in to publicize their list of grievances. Many ARF leaders were also present to lend their support including Kiro Manoyan (pictured above) and Gegham Manukyan. The police took no notice of their presence and used force on the ARF officials as well. The group of Javakhk Armenians had assembled outside of Marriott Armenian Hotel to express their displeasure regarding the visit to Armenia by Georgian President Mikhael Saakashvili. At first police and interior troops wearing the customary red berets pushed the crowd towards the Central Post Office and wouldn't let them unfurl their banners and show their placards, confiscating the. Soon after, a brawl between law enforcement and the demonstrators broke out.
