General Prosecutor's Office Directs Police to Identify Others Who Attacked Edik Baghdasaryan
According to a statement circulated by the RoA General Prosecutor's Office, the Assistant General Prosecutor has issued a directive to the RoA Police to intensify their efforts aimed at identifying the other individuals who assaulted "Hetq" Chief Editor Edik Baghdasaryan last November.
The statement specifically calls on law enforcement to seek out other eye witnesses to the brutal assault and to review speculations made by Mr. Baghdasaryan and the press regarding possible motives for the attack and those behind it. It also urges the police to take a closer look at the circle of friends and acquaintances of Karen Harutyunyan, the only one since charged and found guilty of participating in the assault.
On June 23, the Kentron and Nork-Marash Court found Mr. Harutyunyan guilty on assault and battery charges and sentenced him to five years imprisonment.
