15 prisoners at the Artik correctional facility have recieved high school diplomas this year and a few have even expressed a desire to begin college studies. For the past 50 years, a high school has been operating at the Artik facility. There are other correctional facilities in Armenia where high school courses are available to prisoners as well. Prison administration officials were hopeful that the number of those completing high school while in detention would increase in the coming years as it would facilitate their reintegration into society.
