Azeri Delegation Reveals True Intentions of Karabakh Visit

03_07-p_bulbuloghliAccording to a press release by the "Armat Club" the organizers of the recent Azeri civil initiative to send a delegation to Karabakh and Armenia have revealed their true intentions once arriving back in Azerbaijan. The release states that contrary to delegations stated objectives of building bridges between the people of Azerbaijan and Karabakh and restoring a degree of confidence, the day after the group returned to Baku, the Azeri "intellectuals" confessed that their primary aim was to blunt the alertness of the Armenian people by makings calls for conciliation. The release cites a July 4 article from "Day.az" quoting Zahid Abbasov as saying, "We traveled to Karabakh not to bow down before anyone but to prove that we weren't afraid of going there." "Armenians resemble people who are ready to make concessions; understanding that they must sooner or later. The aim of our visit was to make this much clearer to them." This quote was also lifted from "Day.az" on July 4 as well and was credited to Rovshan Rzayev, another delegation member who also is quoted as saying that when the Armenians saw the Baku delegation they understood that delaying a settlement was meaningless. Conservatory rector Siyavush Kirimli was quoted by "1news.az" on July 4 as saying, "After meeting with NKR President Bako Sahakyan I realized that he wasn’t a long-term thinker. My impression was that Armenians do not think with their heads but that someone else instructs them. He added that "Armenians must come around to reality before it's too late".
