Strike at "Deno Gold" Enters 2nd Day

The strike by workers at the Deno Gold Plant in Kapan is in its second day. Despite Friday's promise by plant manager Robert Faletta that bonuses tied to production capacity and an adherence to safety regulations, workers rejected the offer, arguing that they needed to be paid now. They are also protesting the fact that management is requiring them to put in an eight hour work day instead of six. Today, plant security did not let the striking workers from entering the premises so the disgruntled employees were forced to line up outside the plant gates and voice their demands. According to those on strike, the manager has said that he would bring in workers from outside the plant if work wasn't resumed. The strikers said that they were ready to hand in their resignations if they were forced to do so.
