"Hetq" has just learnt that the Administrative Court had rejected the lawsuit filed by a number of civic and environmental groups calling for a halt to mining operations in the Teghut forest.
According to Hayk Aloumyan, attorney for the plaintiffs, the court argued that the groups in questions were not authorized to raise such environmental concerns.
Logically speaking, it doesn't matter if the plaintiff lives 2 kilometers from the mine or 50. The law makes no such distinction. In addition, one of the groups is an environmental one and I would think it should be able to raise such ecological concerns," the attorney said in an conversation with "Hetq".
When we asked what was to become of the 66 page suit presented by the plaintiffs, that calls for a desist order for mining operations at Teghut, attorney Aloumyan replied, "That case file will be examined by the Administrative Court and ultimately sustained, however much certain people oppose it. You will see that I will push it through."
