Deputy Postanjyan's Letter Gets Lost in Red Tape
"Hetq" has learnt that the statement by RoA National Assembly Deputy Zarouhie Postanjyan, charging the newspaper "Azatamtutyun" with slander and disseminating false information, was received by the Public Prosecutor's Office on July 7.
Public Prosecutor's Press Secretary Sona Trouzyan told "Hetq" that the letter had been forwarded to the police and that "they should have received it by now".
Yesterday afternoon we telephoned and asked if they had indeed received Deputy Postanjyan's letter and if criminal proceedings against the paper had been taken.
Staffers at the police department's information bureau stated a search for the letter but weren't able to locate it; even after searching all day.
We should note that after receiving such a directive from the Prosecutor's Office, examiners must start criminal proceedings by at least ten days afterwards.
