Deputy Sukiasyan Not Preparing to Turn Himself In by July 31 Deadline
The defense team for National Assembly Deputy Khachatur Sukiasyan, presently in hiding from the Armenian authorities regarding the events of March 1, 2008, released a statement from their client in which the deputy says that he has no problem presenting himself to the authorities given that he hasn't committed any crime.
"I don't think that there is anyone in Armenia that can prove that I have committed any offense," the statement reads.
In his statement Deputy Sukiasyan goes on to say that, "I love my country of Armenia and I undertake these tribulations to assist in the defense of human rights and freedoms and to conscientiously carry out my obligations and a member of parliament."
The defense team stated that Deputy Sukiasyan is not preparing to present himself to the authorities by the July 31, 2009 amnesty deadline since he is convinced of his total innocence and has no doubts that in the end justice will triumph.
