Armenian Community in India Celebrates Feast of the Assumption
Armenian College & Philanthropic Academy reports that yesterday the Armenian community and the teachers and students of the ACPA celebrated the feast of the Assumption of Holy Mother of God.
Every year the Armenian community in India goes on a pilgrimage to St. Mary’s Church in Saidabad for the Blessing of the Grapes. This year, too, a pilgrimage was organized to this once flourishing Armenian site, where Holy Mass was offered.
The Divine Liturgy was celebrated by Rev. Father Avetis Hambardzumyan, followed by the blessing of the grapes. Rev. Hambardzumyan then gave a sermon on the importance of the day and warmly wished the congregation on this festive day. Thereafter, the grapes were distributed among all those present.
