Yesterday, during a conversation with "Hetq", Zoya Tadevosyan, who was dismissed from the Heritage Party, stated that the party was in short supply of funds due to the economic crisis. "The party has no finances and thus it will be sold off to the highest bidder," she exclaimed.Today, by way of response, Republican Party MP Rafik Petrosyan told "Hetq" that his party had no desire to purchase Heritage. "There is no such concept; that a party can be sold. The Republican Party cannot just buy another organization. If the party collapses and some members wish to join the Republican Party we will review each case individually."
Mr. Petrosyan claimed that Heritage was financed from overseas, especially the United States. "When Zoya states that Heritage has no money, she is mistaken," he said. MP Petrosyan noted that the RoA government offers financial assistance to parties represented in the parliament to the tune of 4 million AMD annually.
He went on to say that if wealthy businessmen associated with the Republican Party were to ever finance Heritage it would be considered graft. "This is a criminal act that allows for a sentence of ten years imprisonment," said MP Petrosyan who has a legal degree.
