GALA TV Has Raised More Than The Required $90,000
The marathon that began on March 19th to raise funds for the defense of the GALA TV station in Gyumri has ended.
On March 19th, the Administrative Court of the ROA sided with the Gyumri Tax Inspectorate in the case it presented against CHAP, LLC. the founding company of GALA.
The court had required GALA to pay more than 26 million drams in alleged back taxes to the Inspectorate. The court stipulated that in the event that the back taxes could not be paid, the Inspectorate had the right to expropriate the real property of GALA as compensation.
The marathon was able to raise the required 26,899,986 drams; an achievment seen as a victory for the supporters of freedom of expression. CHAP, LLC. plans to take the case to the Court of Appeals and petition for the return of the paid tax liabilities.
