Police Keep Non-ARF Protestors Clear of Government Building

08_10-boxoqi-akcia At this time, a few score of individuals with varying grievances, have assembled in front of the Government Building in downtown Yerevan. The police have not allowed them to approach the building while ARF supporters have been staging a demonstration against the protocols by sitting on the steps of the building. The group includes residents who were forced out of the homes by eminent domain, mothers of soldiers who have died under suspicious circumstances while serving in the army and those who wish to see the now defunct "A1+" T.V. station back on the air. Vachagan Hakobyan, president of the "Property Rights Defense" NGO told "Hetq" that the police have displayed a discriminatory approach to them and the ARF protestors. "They are expressing their grievances and we are doing the same. Why have the police allowed the ARF to sit on the steps of the Government Building while they won’t even allow us to get close?" he noted.
