An investigation by the RoA National Security Service has led to the arrest of Gevorg Hayrapetyan, a citizen of Armenia, charged with “state treason”. It is alleged that he has had dealings with Azerbaijani security services. Mr. Hayrapetyan, a former lieutenant-colonel in the RoA Army, was dismissed in 2007 for severe disciplinary breaches. A foreign national, alleged to be the link between Mr. Hayrapetyan and the Azerbaijani service, was also taken into custody.
