During today’s trial of Nikol Pashinyan on charges that he struck a police officer during an opposition march on October 23, 2007, a witness for the prosecution could neither point out the defendant in court or Vazgen Serobyan, the police officer said to have been struck.
Rita Yepremyan, who works in a store opposite the “Urartu” store, testified that she saw how the demonstrators had gathered outside on the street at around 2-2:30 p.m. When cross-examined by Prosecutor Koryun Piloyan and defense attorney Lusineh Sahakyan, the witness changed the time to 7-7:30 p.m.
When asked why she had gotten the hours mixed up, the witness replied, “That was the time the inspector was to show up at the store the next day.”
