According to a report in today’s Hurriyet Daily News, Turkey’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism says that Holy Cross Church on the island of Akhtamar, in Lake Van, will be open for prayer once a year and that, as promised, a cross will be erected at the top of the dome. Günay also stated that he had been in touch with various Armenian officials regarding an offer to jointly work on the restoration of the Ani ruins and that he might travel to Armenia in the near future to finalize the details of such a project.
