Georgian and Armenian cartographers will meet in Yerevan on November 18-19 to try and agree on a joint delineation of the common border between the two nations. The Georgian delegation will bring their version of the border to the table for inspection.
"Once we accept a mutually acceptable map, work on posting the border will take place," stated Hovsep Petrosyan, Director of the Geodesic and Cartography Center, during a conversation with Hetq.
For the past three years, experts from an inter-governmental Georgian and Armenian commission have been hashing out just how the border, in some areas unmapped, should be delineated. The Armenian side of the work has been carried out by the Geodesic Center.
Mr. Petrosyan said that to date maps contained inaccuracies that have now been resolved, adding that questionable points remain in the area of the village of Sarchapet but expected that they would be settled amicably as well.
