This morning, at around 8 a.m., residents of Kapan, Kajaran and the surrounding villages awoke to find that they had no gas. They started to make frantic phone calls to friend and neighbors asking if "HayRusGazArd" had issued any notice that the local gas supply would be shut off. The answer was no. A call to the Syunik branch of the utility was able to get hold of Chief Technical Officer Armen Poghosyan. He said that the cause of the shutdown was an equipment accident of the gas pipeline running along the highway in the vicinity of the village of Shurnoukh. The cause of the accident is still unknown. Repairs are presently underway.
